Where to start and finish the GR20?
Whichever direction you choose, you'll need to book your own transport to get back home once you've finished... because the GR20 trail is not a loop! The 2 main departure points for the GR20 are Calenzana (Haute Corse - GR20 North/South) and Conca (Corse Du Sud - GR20 South/North).
However, it's also possible to do a 1/2 GR20 at a half-way stage with the Col de Vizzavona. For hikers wishing to do only part of the GR20 route, a departure from the Vergio resort, the Col de Verde, the Col de Bavella, the Asco Stagnu refuge, or Ghisoni Capanelle is often preferred.
- GR20 from Ajaccio

The nearest access points are Vizzavona, Vergio, Verde and Ghisoni. The furthest points are Asco, Calenzana and Conca. Shuttle service available to all GR20 routes. Train service available to Vizzavona and Calvi. Bus to Porto Vecchio.
- GR20 from Bastia

The main routes from Bastia are Calenzana, Conca, Asco or Vizzavona. Gr20 shuttle service available from Bastia Poretta airport, the port and Bastia town center. Alternatively, you can take the train from Bastia or Casamozza station to Vizzavona and Calvi. Once in Calvi, you'll need to take a cab from Calvi to Calenzana (depending on the timetable, you may lose a day).

No GR20 shuttle service. Bookings can only be made with Calvi or Calenzana cabs for a fare of around €30-50. Calvi is a 15-minute drive from Calenzana. Many hikers try the Stop or walk. Good luck to those who choose the latter two options!

Choosing this itinerary allows you to start with the greatest difficulties. Steep gradients, little shade, rocky, mountainous terrain with scree and steep, fairly difficult paths.
Worth knowing: Late May to early June, significant risk of snow or residual snow on the summit of Monte Cinto. - You start the GR20 at Conca

Starting in Conca allows you to discover the Gr20 South and test your physical and mental capacities on terrain that is less difficult and more undulating than the GR20 North. Many hikers choose the Conca Vizzavona route (1/2 GR20). The nearest airport is Figari Sud Corse, and the port is Porto Vecchio. The Basseta sheepfold is ideally located on the heights of Zicavo in southern Corsica. Getting to Vizzavona from Basseta is a difficult but possible GR20 service. However, an approach charge is automatically applied, as there are no drivers in the immediate vicinity of these two remote locations.

- Do you offer a luggage storage or transfer service?

Need luggage storage so you don't have to carry your bags and suitcases on the GR20? Drop off your personal belongings in a luggage repository from Ajaccio or Bastia.
